Freese and Nichols is seeking a
CAD Designer to support our
Transmission and Utilities team in
Frisco, Texas. As a CAD Designer, you will support the design of linear utilities, pump stations, and treatment plants for water and wastewater infrastructure projects while collaborating with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
What You'll Do- Understand project requirements, scope, and deliverables to support design decisions
- Provide conceptual input during project planning and identify opportunities for quality improvements
- Prepare detailed drawings and layouts using BIM/CAD tools and engineering principles
- Perform design tasks requiring fundamental engineering concepts with minimal direction
- Coordinate with design teams, stakeholders, and other disciplines to ensure seamless execution
- Perform BIM/CAD quality control to ensure deliverables meet professional standards
- Apply company CAD standards, maintain drawing files, and support best practices
- Serve as a liaison between CAD Managers and users to support standards and new technologies
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in engineering design and technical support utilizing BIM/CAD software
- Advanced expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, including alignments, pressure pipe networks, gravity pipe networks, surfaces, and data management
- Ability to learn, adapt, and problem solve to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel
Preferred- Associate degree in BIM/CAD or Design/Drafting Technology
- 10+ years of experience in Autodesk Civil 3D, including pipeline design
- Experience translating design/data files across platforms such as GIS shapefiles, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation
