Contract Duration: 12 months to start (ongoing)

The Senior Database Engineer is responsible for enterprise SQL engineering, DBT transformation integrity, and PostgreSQL performance optimization. This role serves as the primary authority on schema design, indexing strategies, and large-scale data operations.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years enterprise SQL engineering experience
Deep PostgreSQL expertise
DBT transformation experience
Advanced query tuning and performance diagnostics
Experience in financial or regulated environments
Prior Level 2/3 SQL Support in large environments desired

What You Will Be Doing

Lead PostgreSQL architecture and performance optimization
Design and optimize complex SQL queries supporting APIs and DBT models
Analyze execution plans and tune high-volume workloads
Implement indexing and partitioning strategies
Conduct database health assessments and capacity planning
Develop SQL investigation playbooks for L2 escalations

Deliverables & Outcomes:

Reduce DBT runtime and transformation failures
Improve database query performance
Structure database monitoring and maintenance procedures
SQL diagnostics documentation and runbooks
