About the Role
An established enterprise technology company is adding a Senior Data Scientist to its Boston, Massachusetts team. The role follows a hybrid schedule and supports the development of intelligent products for professionals who rely on large volumes of legal and regulatory information.
You will investigate, prototype, and operationalize advanced language-based systems, with particular attention to RAG, autonomous AI workflows, and document intelligence. The ideal candidate combines scientific rigor with practical product judgment and can determine whether an AI system is accurate, useful, and ready for enterprise use.
Core Qualifications
At least 8 years of experience applying data science or machine learning to real-world products
Advanced understanding of LLM behavior, NLP techniques, and generative model applications
Proven ability to design retrieval strategies for unstructured and highly specialized content
Experience building AI agents, orchestration logic, or tool-using model workflows
Knowledge of scalable model services and distributed data or AI platforms
Experience defining experiments, benchmarks, and quality measures for production AI systems
Additional Qualifications
Background working with legal information, regulatory content, or another knowledge-heavy industry is beneficial
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is required; a master's degree is preferred
Ability to communicate model tradeoffs and findings to engineering, product, and business stakeholders
Your Responsibilities
How You Will Contribute
Own data science initiatives from exploratory analysis and prototyping through launch assessment
Construct retrieval and ranking approaches that ground language-model responses in authoritative source material
Build analytical and modeling solutions for case analysis, statutory interpretation, and document summarization
Establish testing frameworks that measure factuality, relevance, robustness, and end-user value
Collaborate with platform teams to integrate data science solutions into secure, high-volume applications

Initial 6-month contract with the potential to convert to a permanent position
