SUMMARY

As a member of the IT Infrastructure team, the Network Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, upgrade, and maintenance of NASSCO's enterprise network hardware and software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Designs, develops, builds, and tests network engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with security requirements and established project management processes.
  • Configures, installs, and troubleshoots routers, switches, firewalls, and various other network and telecommunication components.
  • Manages network policies, segmentation, automation and assurance.
  • Documents network designs and diagrams.
  • Provides day-to-day network services to IT personnel and end users.
  • Provides support to team members and as necessary engages with service providers and vendors to report issues and obtain guidance on best practices.
  • Adapts to changing environments and becomes proficient with emerging technology and products independently.
  • Monitors key system metrics to identify trends and analysis using networking monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety and quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize cost.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Considered to be expert in discipline.
  • CCNP certification is strongly preferred, CCNP level network expertise is required.
  • Expertise in routing protocols, TCP/IP protocols, security requirements and network communications is required.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Perimeter and Network (SDP)(SDN) and Zero Trust Access (ZTNA) is required.
  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting network problems is required.
  • Experience with CISCO products and technology (Catalyst Center, Fabric, ISE) is required.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls is required.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds is required.
  • Experience with network LAN/WAN cabling, including fiber optic technologies, is required.
  • Experience with load balancing on the F5 platform including SSL termination is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud networking is preferred.
  • Ability to script using Python, Perl, or other scripting languages.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and take a proactive approach to responsibilities.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a productive team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with various groups in developing solutions to problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls, and to talk and hear. Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PAY SCALE

$143,900 - $186,200

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
