Principal Enterprise Architect – Product-to-Market / Retail Planning
Location: Onsite in Pleasanton, CA or San Francisco, CA
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PT
Contract: 12-month W2 contract with possible extension
Pay Rate: $100–$115/hour W2
Russell Tobin is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect – Product-to-Market / Retail Planning to support a leading enterprise retail client. This role will join the Enterprise Architecture team within the CTO organization and support the design, assessment, and evolution of the client’s Product-to-Market ecosystem.
This is a high-impact architecture role focused on retail P2M capabilities, integrated planning, merchandising, allocation, and supply chain alignment. The ideal candidate has deep experience in retail or fashion/apparel environments, composable architecture, API-first integrations, and AI/ML-enabled planning capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the current Product-to-Market landscape and vendor capabilities to identify gaps, redundancies, risks, and modernization opportunities.
- Develop architecture blueprints, capability roadmaps, and recommendations aligned to business outcomes.
- Support enterprise architecture efforts across Line Planning, Buy Planning, Visual Mapping, Space Planning, Size & Pack, Allocation, Consumer Insights, and related retail planning capabilities.
- Provide guidance on composable architecture patterns, API-first integrations, event-driven architecture, and data flow design.
- Partner with Product-to-Market, Engineering, Data, and business teams to evaluate vendors, define integration patterns, and support platform decisions.
- Advise on AI/ML and Agentic AI use cases related to Product-to-Market automation, predictive planning, personalization, content automation, and employee engagement.
- Contribute to architecture reviews, governance processes, investment decisions, and platform consolidation initiatives.
- Produce clear documentation, including architecture diagrams, decision frameworks, capability models, and executive-ready recommendations.
- Translate complex architecture and Product-to-Market concepts into clear business value for senior stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Product-to-Market, retail planning, supply chain, or enterprise architecture.
- Strong experience supporting retail Product-to-Market capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with merchandising and planning processes, including:
- Line Planning
- Buy Planning
- Allocation
- Consumer Insights
- Visual Mapping
- Space Planning
- Sizing and Packing
- Experience working in retail, fashion/apparel, client-facing, or DTC brand environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native, API-first, composable, and event-driven architecture patterns.
- Experience evaluating vendor capabilities and designing integration patterns across enterprise platforms.
- Ability to create architecture blueprints, roadmaps, capability assessments, and governance documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to business and executive audiences.
- Ability to integrate quickly into an existing team and deliver with minimal ramp-up.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with composable Product-to-Market architecture and MACH architecture principles.
- Familiarity with Agentic AI or LLM applications in Product-to-Market automation, planning, personalization, or employee engagement.
- Experience with AI/ML-driven capabilities such as predictive segmentation, next-best-action, propensity modeling, personalization, and audience intelligence.
- Prior experience supporting large-scale transformation, platform modernization, or architecture governance initiatives.
