Fire Permit Coordinator

In this role, you will help keep fire and security projects moving by coordinating permit activity, supporting compliance, and working closely with internal teams and external authorities.

Role Overview

The Fire Permit Coordinator supports assigned projects by preparing, tracking, and coordinating permit applications, approvals, and inspections. This role requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while working with CAD, Install teams, customers, and permitting authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile data and paperwork for local building, zoning, planning, and state or federal environmental permits and approvals.
  • Lead the permitting process for assigned projects, including applications, permit packages, tracking, updates, and deadline management.
  • Work with CAD and Install teams to identify required permits and approvals for each project.
  • Communicate with local, county, state, and federal authorities regarding permit reviews, regulatory questions, and approval status.
  • Research jurisdictional requirements, monitor regulation changes, and maintain accurate permit records and decision-maker databases.
  • Coordinate project permits, approvals, and inspections to help keep work on schedule.
  • Support multiple projects and internal departments while maintaining a high level of customer service and responsiveness.

How You Will Do It

  • You will own your work with accuracy, accountability, and a strong sense of urgency, keeping permit activity organized and moving forward.
  • You will stay close to the project work by partnering directly with CAD, Install teams, and external authorities to remove barriers early.
  • You will use clear, candid communication and solid follow-through to keep stakeholders informed on requirements, risks, and deadlines.
  • You will look for ways to improve the process every day by keeping records current, resolving issues quickly, and strengthening permit tracking.
  • You will work as one team, bringing in different perspectives when coordinating across departments, projects, and jurisdictions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within multiple departments as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Two-year degree or trade school background.
  • Knowledge of fire permits, local Fire Codes, and NFPA requirements.
  • Permitting experience ideal in security and fire systems or the construction business.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $23-31 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
