Job Title: Senior Application Developer

Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, Texas 77034

Primary Function:

This Senior Application Developer role provides technical leadership and hands-on development support for internal business applications. The position is responsible for stabilizing and modernizing existing systems, designing new applications, and leading automation and integration efforts that improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Lead design, development, and maintenance of business-critical internal applications.
  • Own legacy application stabilization and guide modernization or replacement strategies.
  • Design and implement new internal tools, workflows, and automation solutions.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Architect and build integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms.
  • Review code, enforce standards, and mentor other developers.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause resolution.
  • Ensure applications are well-documented, secure, and maintainable.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Equivalent professional experience will be considered.

Technical Skills
  • Strong experience with .NET development (C# and/or VB.NET).
  • Advanced working knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, or similar).
  • Experience designing and supporting web-based applications and services.
  • Proven ability to design and consume RESTful APIs and system integrations.
  • Experience with Git-based source control, code reviews, and branching strategies.
  • Exposure to application security best practices and secure coding standards.

Professional Experience
  • 7+ years of professional Application development experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of business-critical applications.
  • Experience leading or mentoring other developers.
  • Experience modernizing or replacing legacy systems.
  • Direct experience working with business users and non-technical stakeholders.

Leadership & Personal Attributes
  • Strong technical judgment and architectural thinking.
  • Ability to balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical topics clearly.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Self-directed with the ability to prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong service orientation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently during office or site visits.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and offices as required (typically short-duration visits).
  • Field / Site Visit Requirements (Occasional)
    • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, gravel, and graded surfaces typical of substation construction sites.
    • Ability to navigate active construction environments, including:
      • stairs, ramps, temporary walkways
      • partially completed structures
    • Ability to climb stairs or ladders to access elevated work areas or control buildings (not continuous climbing).
    • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing , and hearing protection as needed
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
