Introduction

The SQL Server Data Engineer position at Elite Technical involves supporting a New Mexico state agency in managing a mission-critical SQL Server environment. This role requires hands-on work with mature, legacy systems and a focus on system stability and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on administration of SQL Server environments supporting production applications
• Development, maintenance, and optimization of T-SQL stored procedures, functions, and queries
• Building and supporting SSRS reports for business and operational users
• Performance tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and troubleshooting
• Backup, recovery, security, permissions, and day-to-day DBA ownership
• Supporting existing systems with a focus on stability and continuity

Technical Environment

• Microsoft SQL Server (on-prem / hybrid)
• Heavy T-SQL & stored-procedure-centric systems
• SSRS (not Power BI-first)
• Legacy applications and databases
• No ORM, no cloud-first or analytics-engineering focus

Requirements

• 8–15+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
• Deep experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, and SSRS
• Experience supporting legacy or mature production environments
• Comfortable owning systems end-to-end in a regulated or public-sector setting
• Hybrid, 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
