The St. Louis, MO and Edwardsville, IL offices of Modjeski and Masters are seeking a
Senior Structural Bridge Design Engineer with
10+ years of bridge design experience to join our growing bridge engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex bridge projects, mentor engineering staff, and contribute to some of the nation's most notable transportation infrastructure projects.
What We're Looking For - 10+ years of progressive bridge design experience in the transportation industry.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
- Demonstrated experience delivering bridge design projects for IDOT and/or MoDOT.
- Strong technical knowledge of bridge design, structural analysis, and applicable design codes and specifications.
- Experience leading project teams and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts.
- Proficiency with engineering and design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge Designer, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
What You'll Do - Serve as a technical lead for the design, analysis, and rehabilitation of highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridge projects.
- Oversee and perform structural analyses and bridge design calculations for new and existing structures.
- Lead project teams in the preparation of design plans, specifications, engineering reports, and construction cost estimates.
- Review and approve structural calculations, design reports, plans, and project deliverables prepared by engineering staff.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project development and delivery.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, scope development, fee estimates, and client presentations.
- Perform field inspections, condition assessments, and construction support services as required.
- Review and verify quantity calculations and construction documents.
- Apply and interpret relevant design specifications and standards, including:
- AASHTO
- AREMA
- AISC
- ACI
- State DOT design manuals and requirements
- Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives to ensure technical excellence and project success.
