Network/System Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Network/System Engineer with our client in the financial industry located in Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX, and Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract position.

Responsibilities:

• Provide system support, due diligence research, and decommissioning for Enterprise servers running UNIX based software and operating systems
• Work with other Enterprise support teams within the client, and external support vendors for hardware and network removals

Requirements:

• Technical expertise (Unix and Virtualization Platforms)
• Demonstrated proficiency in administering enterprise Unix and virtualization environments, including AIX, Solaris, Linux, HP UX, and ESXi, with the ability to execute system level tasks in support of server lifecycle and decommissioning activities
• Ability to analyze Unix based systems to validate user access, active sessions, batch jobs, and running processes, ensuring systems are in an appropriate state for decommissioning
• Skilled in hardware and asset verification, including serial number and configuration validation against authoritative records
• Proven capability to accurately update and maintain systems of record related to server decommissioning, ensuring data accuracy, auditability, and compliance with established procedures
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with experience coordinating across decommission, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure timely power down, validation, and physical removal of decommissioned servers and associated peripherals
• Solid understanding of ITSM principles, including change, incident, and request management
• Demonstrated experience adhering to change control policies and governance standards within regulated or structured operating environments
• Hands on experience using enterprise service management platforms such as BMC Remedy and ServiceNow to manage requests, document changes, and support operational workflows with decom team and related support teams to insure timely power down, validation, and removal of decommissioned hardware and peripherals
• Knowledgeable about ITSM standards and change control procedures
• Experience with BMC Remedy and ServiceNow service management products
• Familiarity with Change Control procedures and protocols
• Strong sever administration experience focusing on AIX, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, and ESXi operating systems
• Linux

Pay Range: $48.89-$56.89
