Robinhood has been tapped as the brokerage and initial trustee for Trump Accounts, and is working alongside BNY to develop and operate the Trump Accounts infrastructure to expand market access for the next generation of Americans. In this role, you will help build a world-class, intuitive platform, leveraging Robinhood's industry-leading financial technology to deliver a standalone web and app experience for this historic national initiative.

The Retirements and Accounts team focuses on building and scaling systems that support long-term investing and account management for millions of customers. This team works closely with product, data, and infrastructure partners to deliver reliable, secure, and intuitive financial experiences. You will help shape systems that enable customers to plan for their financial future with confidence!

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining core retirement and account platform services. You will guide technical direction, support team development, and ensure delivery of high-quality systems that meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards. This role plays a key part in improving how customers manage their accounts and retirement products at scale.

This role is based in our New York, NY office(s), with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week.

What you'll do
  • Lead and support a team of engineers building retirement and account management systems
  • Guide system design decisions to ensure reliability, scalability, and data accuracy
  • Partner with product managers and designers to define technical solutions that meet customer needs
  • Review and improve engineering processes to increase code quality and delivery speed
  • Coach engineers through regular feedback, career development planning, and performance management
  • Drive 0 1 Product Launch: Own the end-to-end development and architecture of the custom, white-label Trump Accounts platform, building the initial front-end experience and scalable infrastructure
What you bring
  • 5+ years of leading engineering teams and managing direct reports
  • Strong background in building and operating distributed systems at scale
  • Ability to guide technical decisions and evaluate tradeoffs across system design options
  • Experience working on financial systems, payments, or account-related platforms (preferred)
  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with product and design partners
  • Greenfield Engineering Expertise: A proven track record of scaling early-stage systems from 0 1, combining deep technical execution with the agility needed to launch secure, user-friendly consumer applications under tight regulatory standards.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
