ETL Datawarehouse with IBM Datastage

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ETL Data Warehouse Architect with strong expertise in IBM DataStage and IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D) to support a large-scale enterprise data modernization initiative for the State of Michigan. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, developing, and optimizing ETL solutions while supporting the migration of on-premises DataStage workloads to Cloud Pak for Data.

This role requires strong hands-on experience with ETL development, Linux/Unix, SQL, Python, XML, and Master Data Management (MDM) in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain ETL pipelines using IBM DataStage.
• Build and optimize parallel jobs, server jobs, job sequences, and reusable ETL components.
• Support migration of on-premise IBM DataStage jobs to IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D).
• Refactor existing ETL code, perform testing, validation, and deployment activities.
• Develop automation using Python, XML, and shell scripting.
• Work in Linux/Unix environments for scripting, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and file management.
• Create and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
• Apply Master Data Management (MDM) principles to improve data quality and governance.
• Collaborate with architects, DBAs, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Troubleshoot ETL issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend performance improvements.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, documentation, and production support.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DataStage ETL development.
• 1+ year of experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D).
• 5+ years of Linux/Unix experience.
• 3+ years of Master Data Management (MDM) experience.
• Strong SQL development and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with Python, XML, and Shell Scripting.
• Experience supporting enterprise data warehouse environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise data warehouse modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of ETL migration best practices.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization of DataStage jobs.
• Government or public sector experience is a plus.
