Summary

Job Title: IT Security Contractor

Location: Remote
Contract Type: Contract (3+ months)
Client: ChampionChair

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Security Contractor to support our cybersecurity initiatives, protect systems and data, and ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards. This role involves hands-on security operations, risk assessment, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and alerts
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts
  • Implement and maintain security controls across systems and networks
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Assist with security audits and documentation
  • Collaborate with IT team to secure infrastructure and applications
  • Develop and update security policies, procedures, and playbooks

Required Qualifications

  • 3 - 7+ years of experience in IT or cybersecurity
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs)
    • Endpoint security, EDR and XDR tools
    • Microsoft Defender, Azure, Entra and Intune
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Familiarity with hybrid environments with cloud security (Azure)
  • Ability to investigate and respond to incidents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as:
    • CISSP, CEH, Security+, CISM, or GIAC
  • Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Previous contractor or consulting experience

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Threat hunting experience
  • Zero Trust architecture knowledge
  • DevSecOps exposure
  • Just-In-Time Permissions
  • Security Policy creation
  • Experience with virtualized environments (Hyper-V)
