Role Summary
Our client is modernizing their enterprise data landscape, moving from a legacy data warehouse and older transactional systems into a cloudbased Lakehouse architecture on Databricks. We are seeking a Senior Data Architect / Data Modeler who can design the nextgeneration data foundation, establish governance through Unity Catalog, and guide the migration of complex operational data into a scalable, analyticsready environment.
This role blends handson architecture, data modeling, and enterprise governance, and requires strong partnership with engineering, analytics, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities Enterprise Data Architecture
Define the endtoend data architecture supporting the transition from legacy EDW to a modern Databricks Lakehouse.
Build conceptual, logical, and physical data models across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and other core business domains.
Establish Lakehouse patterns for ingestion, curation, and consumption (bronze/silver/gold).
Set standards for Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and data quality frameworks.
Databricks & Unity Catalog Governance
Architect and operationalize Unity Catalog for lineage, governance, access control, and metadata management.
Define catalog, schema, workspace, and permissioning strategies for enterprise scale.
Partner with security and platform teams to align governance with corporate standards.
Data Integration & Modernization
Translate complex operational data structures from legacy systems into harmonized Lakehouse models.
Define ingestion patterns using CDC, APIs, streaming, or filebased mechanisms.
Ensure consistency of master data and alignment with enterprise data governance.
Lead rationalization of legacy EDW assets and design migration paths into Databricks.
CrossFunctional Leadership
Work closely with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to align data architecture with business needs.
Provide architectural guidance, documentation, and standards to engineering teams.
Support roadmap planning, solution reviews, and architectural governance forums.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years in data architecture, data modeling, or enterprise data engineering.
Strong experience designing and governing data models for large, complex organizations.
Handson Databricks experience, including:
o Unity Catalog (mandatory)
o Delta Lake
o Delta Live Tables
o Lakehouse architecture patterns
Expertise in conceptual/logical/physical data modeling and dimensional modeling.
Experience migrating from legacy EDWs (Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, etc.) to cloud platforms.
Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, metadata, and security frameworks.
Ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders.
