Dryer Furnace Operator

As a Dryer Furnace Operator, you?ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Dryer Island and associated equipment at our Bastrop production facility.
This is a hands-on industrial role where you?ll operate equipment, monitor plant performance, complete preventive maintenance activities, troubleshoot operational issues, and support day-to-day production. You?ll also have opportunities to expand your skills through cross-training in other plant roles and Dryer Island control-room operations.

Your Day-to-Day as a Dryer Furnace Operator. You?ll be:
- Safely operate and monitor the Dryer Island and associated production equipment.
- Regularly check gauges and HMI interfaces, making operational adjustments as necessary.
- Utilize daily checklists and complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks to maintain optimal drying performance.
- Operate loaders, forklifts, manlifts, and other mobile equipment.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot equipment and operational issues while developing your electrical and mechanical skills.
- Accurately complete production logs, work instructions, and other required documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that designated spaces are free of safety hazards.
- Obtain and maintain required safety certifications and equipment qualifications.
- Train alongside shift control-room operators and work towards becoming a qualified backup Dryer Island control-room operator.
- Cross-train in additional plant roles, including control-room operations, chipper operation, and log-crane operation.
- Anticipate and respond to operational conditions, including necessary adjustments related to weather and other factors.
- Approach equipment failures and operational challenges with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with supervisors to identify opportunities for improving operating efficiency and controlling costs.
- Build productive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and other internal and external partners.
- Share knowledge and expertise with others while taking ownership of your personal development.
- Support a strong health, safety, and environmental culture by following established policies, practices, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you?ll bring:
To excel in this vital role, you?ll need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 5 years of industrial experience preferred.
- Demonstrated aptitude in electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Ability to maintain and adjust equipment to optimize production and reduce downtime.
- Proficient in operating loaders, forklifts, manlifts, and other mobile equipment.
- Competent in using HMI interfaces to monitor operations and make necessary adjustments.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional attitude with the ability to collaborate well with others.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
