Neuberger Berman is seeking an Application Developer to help build and enhance critical Private Markets research applications. This role partners closely with investment professionals and technology stakeholders to translate research and workflow needs into scalable, high-performing software solutions.
You'll contribute across application development, data engineering (SQL/ETL), and platform enablement-delivering reliable tools that improve research efficiency, data quality, and decision-making.
Responsibilities: Application Development & Delivery
- Design, develop, test, and deploy robust, scalable applications using modern tools and frameworks.
- Produce maintainable, well-documented code aligned with engineering best practices.
- Partner with the Application Service Delivery team to support delivery execution and ongoing service management.
Platform Enablement (Everest)
- Drive adoption and integration of the Everest platform for new and existing teams, ensuring smooth onboarding and operational continuity.
- Coordinate with business and technology partners to manage dependencies, impacts, and readiness for rollout.
Data, SQL & ETL
- Design and optimize SQL solutions to improve data flows, query performance, and reporting for investment professionals.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines to support accurate, timely, and high-quality data movement across platforms.
- Follow best practices for database security, reliability, and performance tuning.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Work directly with investment teams to understand workflows, identify pain points, and deliver technological solutions that enhance user experience and outcomes.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.
What You'll Bring: Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in application development with hands-on SQL and either Python or .NET.
- Working knowledge of ETL concepts (data movement, validation, scheduling, and monitoring).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, delivery-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with Tableau or similar BI/data visualization tools.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
- Familiarity with DevOps tooling and CI/CD concepts (e.g., Git, Jenkins, or similar).
- Exposure to cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Prior experience within Financial Services is highly preferred
Work model - Location: New York City; hybrid with a minimum of two days per week in office.

Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $85,000-$110,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package.
