Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior AI Engineer with deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Healthcare data ecosystems. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and deploy AI-driven solutions leveraging clinical, claims, and interoperability data to improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise combined with healthcare domain knowledge including EMR/EHR systems, CMS regulations, interoperability standards, and HIPAA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable AI/ML solutions for healthcare use cases such as risk prediction, readmission prediction, fraud detection, prior authorization automation, and clinical decision support.
• Develop and deploy ML models using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Azure/AWS AI services.
• Work with healthcare data standards including HL7, FHIR, X12, and clinical terminologies (ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED).
• Build NLP solutions for unstructured clinical notes using LLMs and transformer models.
• Develop GenAI-based solutions using Azure OpenAI / OpenAI APIs for use cases like clinical summarization, chatbot assistants, and document intelligence.
• Architect MLOps pipelines for model training, validation, monitoring, and retraining.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance, PHI handling, and secure data governance practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, healthcare SMEs, and compliance teams.
• Lead AI strategy discussions and mentor junior AI/ML engineers.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall IT experience with 5+ years in AI/ML engineering.
• Strong healthcare domain experience (Payers, Providers, PBM, or HealthTech platforms).
• Expertise in:
  • Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn)
  • TensorFlow / PyTorch
  • NLP, LLMs, RAG architectures
  • Prompt engineering & AI evaluation frameworks
• Experience with cloud platforms:
  • Azure (Azure ML, Databricks, OpenAI, Data Lake)
  • OR AWS (SageMaker, Comprehend, Bedrock)
• Experience with Healthcare interoperability standards:
  • HL7
  • FHIR
  • X12 EDI transactions (837, 835, 278)
• Strong SQL and healthcare data modeling skills.
• Experience handling PHI data and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Knowledge of CMS interoperability mandates and value-based care models.
