Role Overview
The Senior Solution Architect - Platform Architect will act as the technical authority for evaluating, designing, and recommending enterprise-grade solution architectures across Microsoft Power Platform and custom .NET-based solutions. This role ensures alignment with State IT governance, security, and scalability requirements, while providing feasibility-driven recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Evaluation
Lead architectural evaluations of Power Platform and .NET solutions.
Establish technical feasibility for platform combinations.
Integration Architecture
Design/document integration patterns with Illinois State systems.
Define API-based, event-driven, and service-oriented approaches.
Evaluate data flows, error handling, and resilience.
Ensure alignment with identity platforms, data sources, and shared services.
Architecture Standards & Governance
Establish standards and guiding principles for Power Platform/.NET.
Ensure compliance with State IT policies and security controls.
Translate findings into clear recommendations for leadership.
Present architectural options, risks, and benefits.
Guide platform selection, implementation strategy, and phased adoption.
Key Deliverables
Platform Comparison Matrix - Power Platform vs. .NET solutions.
Solution Architecture Documentation - End-to-end designs with integrations.
Integration Architecture Designs - Models of system interactions/data flows.
Technical Feasibility Reports - Risks, constraints, and rationale.
High-Level System Design - Executive-ready architecture overview.
Required Qualifications
10+ years in enterprise application architecture and solution design.
Experience architecting Microsoft Power Platform and .NET solutions.
Strong expertise in integration patterns, API design, interoperability.
Proven ability to assess feasibility and guide platform decisions.
Experience establishing architecture standards and governance frameworks.
Excellent documentation, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with government/public-sector organizations.
Familiarity with regulated environments, compliance, and security standards.
Experience designing hybrid architectures (low-code + custom dev).
Strong understanding of identity, access management, and enterprise data integration.
