About the Role
Apex Systems is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Technician III to support manufacturing operations, equipment maintenance, and production activities for an innovative technology-driven organization in Baldwin Park, CA. This position will work closely with engineering and operations teams to maintain critical manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot mechanical systems, support production processes, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with HVAC and vacuum systems, and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Support manufacturing operations, production activities, and equipment uptime.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain vacuum chambers, vacuum pumps, cryogenic pumps, and related systems.
- Ensure vacuum chambers are properly sealed, leak-free, and operating within specifications.
- Monitor, inspect, and troubleshoot compressors, cooling systems, and water lines.
- Install, replace, and repair tubing, fittings, clamps, and mechanical components.
- Assist engineers with equipment setup, calibration, testing, and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform assembly, disassembly, rework, and repair of parts, components, subassemblies, and production equipment.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, record readings, and identify out-of-spec conditions.
- Support custom fabrication projects, including simple fixtures, tables, racks, and equipment modifications.
- Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing process issues and equipment failures.
- Follow safety procedures when working around sensitive materials and manufacturing equipment.
- Work effectively in environments that may include confined spaces, elevated work areas, and industrial noise levels.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, equipment maintenance, facilities maintenance, mechanical technician, or related technical roles.
- Experience with HVAC systems and mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with vacuum chambers, vacuum systems, mechanical pumps, or cryogenic pumps.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment issues.
- Hands-on experience working with tubing, fittings, cooling systems, or water lines.
- Ability to use hand tools and perform mechanical assembly and disassembly.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and materials as needed.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic understanding of physics and mechanical principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with refrigeration systems.
- Experience maintaining air compressors and compressed air systems.
- Familiarity with gloveboxes, clean manufacturing environments, or controlled process equipment.
- Soldering experience.
- Basic welding experience.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience and ability to follow simple wiring diagrams.
- Experience supporting semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, laboratory, industrial, or high-tech production environments.
