Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / FPGA Design Engineer to join our client's engineering team in Camden, NJ. This position requires hands-on experience in FPGA design and development using VHDL, along with expertise in Xilinx FPGA devices and Vivado Design Suite. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must possess an active security clearance.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing, developing, testing, and integrating FPGA-based digital systems while working in a structured engineering environment utilizing configuration management and Earned Value Management (EVM).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement FPGA solutions using VHDL.
• Develop FPGA architectures for complex digital hardware systems.
• Perform simulation, synthesis, implementation, timing analysis, and debugging.
• Work with Xilinx FPGA devices using Vivado Design Suite.
• Support hardware integration, board bring-up, and system testing.
• Maintain FPGA source code using revision control tools (Git, SVN, etc.).
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams.
• Follow engineering documentation standards and configuration management processes.
• Support project execution within Earned Value Management (EVM) guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 5+ years of hands-on FPGA design experience.
• Strong experience developing FPGA solutions using VHDL.
• Experience with Xilinx FPGA families.
• Strong working knowledge of Vivado Design Suite.
• Experience using Revision Control Systems (Git, SVN, ClearCase, etc.).
• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) processes.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Active Security Clearance is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ModelSim or QuestaSim.
• Experience with FPGA verification methodologies.
• Embedded hardware development experience.
• Familiarity with digital signal processing (DSP).
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or government projects.
• Knowledge of DO-254 or similar hardware development standards.
