We are seeking an experienced Application & Data Security Architect to join the team of our exceptional client in Houston, TX for an initial 6-month engagement, with strong potential for long-term extension.
This role focuses heavily on DevSecOps and requires hands-on experience with SAST, DAST, and SCA tools, along with a strong background in securing custom application and data implementations preferably within Microsoft Azure environments. You will play a key role in defining and implementing secure SDLC practices and embedding security throughout the development lifecycle.

What will your day look like? As an Application & Data Security Architect, you will:
Define and implement secure SDLC and DevSecOps best practices across teams
Integrate automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines, including SAST, DAST, SCA, and secrets scanning
Establish secure-by-design architecture patterns for applications and data platforms
Lead application and data security assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
Present security tooling, findings, and risk assessments to technical and business stakeholders
Clearly articulate business risk and provide actionable remediation guidance
Collaborate across Central IT and Business IT teams to ensure consistent security standards
Strengthen software supply chain and open-source security practices
Support container security initiatives
Drive vulnerability management processes
Contribute to incident response activities as needed
You will be a good fit for the Application & Data Security Architect role if you have:
Strong experience designing and implementing Secure SDLC frameworks
Hands-on DevSecOps experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines
Deep expertise with application security tooling (SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets detection)
Experience securing open-source components and managing software supply chain risk
Knowledge of container security best practices
Experience with vulnerability management programs
Familiarity with incident response processes
Strong cloud security experience, particularly within Azure environments
Ability to communicate complex security risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across cross-functional teams
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience leveraging AI-driven solutions for security engineering
Background reviewing and securing custom-built applications and enterprise data platforms
