Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Data Warehouse Engineer with strong Linux and IBM Cognos reporting skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting enterprise data warehouse solutions on IBM DB2, ensuring high performance, reliability, and data integrity while enabling business intelligence and analytics through Cognos.

 

Key Responsibilities

Data Warehouse & DB2

·        Design, develop, and maintain DB2-based data warehouse and data marts.

·        Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and indexes.

·        Perform performance tuning (query optimization, indexing strategies, partitioning).

·        Manage ETL/ELT processes, including data validation and reconciliation.

·        Implement data modeling (dimensional/star/snowflake schemas).

·        Monitor database health, capacity, and performance metrics.

·        Handle backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

 

Linux

·        Manage job scheduling (cron, enterprise schedulers).

 

Cognos & BI

·        Develop, deploy, and support IBM Cognos reports, dashboards, and packages.

·        Work with business users to translate requirements into Cognos data models and reports.

·        Optimize Cognos performance and ensure data accuracy.

·        Support security models (roles, groups, row-level security).

 

Operations & Collaboration

·        Work closely with ETL developers, BI analysts, and business stakeholders.

·        Support production environments, including incident resolution and root cause analysis.

·        Participate in release management, change management, and code reviews.

·        Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and audit requirements.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

·        Strong experience with IBM DB2 (LUW) in large-scale data warehouse environments.

·        Advanced SQL expertise.

·        Solid experience with Linux/Unix administration.

·        Hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics / Cognos BI.

·        Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.

·        Experience with ETL tools (DataStage, Informatica, Ab Initio, or similar).

·        Performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.

·        Shell scripting (bash/ksh).
