Role Summary
The Geospatial Data Analyst plays a critical role in the creation, maintenance, and quality assurance of geospatial data that supports enterprise wide engineering and operational initiatives. This position directly contributes to the development and support of essential GIS datasets, including those required for Positive Train Control compliance and enterprise GIS programs.
In this role, you will interpret complex field data, transform it into accurate digital representations, and ensure alignment with defined data models and standards. You will work cross functionally with engineering and technical teams to deliver high quality geospatial insights and support ongoing infrastructure analysis and planning efforts.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, modify, and maintain geospatial infrastructure data to support critical business applications and engineering initiatives
• Perform quality control and validation of geospatial data, including accepting and promoting data updates
• Interpret field generated spatial data and convert it into compliant digital network models
• Utilize GIS tools to perform topology corrections and geometric adjustments to ensure data accuracy
• Support the development and maintenance of datasets used for Positive Train Control compliance
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to advance enterprise GIS initiatives and data utilization
• Conduct inventory and infrastructure analysis, including measurements, counts, and system evaluations
• Assist senior team members with ongoing GIS responsibilities and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Key Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
• Advanced experience with GIS software and geospatial data analysis tools
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
• Experience performing data quality control, validation, and geospatial modeling
• Knowledge of transportation, infrastructure, or rail systems preferred
• Familiarity with data standards, database structures, and enterprise GIS environments
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into actionable insights
