SQL Server & .NET Software Engineer
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server programming and strong hands-on experience in .NET (4.x and above) development to support and enhance grant management platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable, data-intensive applications in a product development environment, preferably within public sector, higher education, or nonprofit grant management ecosystems. This role requires strong backend data processing capabilities along with the ability to deliver intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for complex workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL Server stored procedures, functions, and queries to support grant lifecycle processes, including application intake, review, award, compliance, and reporting.
Build and maintain backend services using .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET, and Web APIs, for grant management systems.
Develop responsive UI components using Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support end-user workflows such as application submission, review dashboards, and reporting.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate grant program requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Implement and enhance reporting capabilities for compliance, audit, and funding analysis.
Improve database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, and efficient data modeling.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.
Required Qualifications
Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced stored procedures, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
Solid hands-on experience with .NET technologies, including C#, ASP.NET MVC/Core, and Web APIs.
Experience with front-end development using Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience working with complex, data-driven applications.
Understanding of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on grant management systems or similar domains, including public sector, higher education, or nonprofit funding platforms.
Familiarity with grant lifecycle processes, compliance requirements, and reporting needs.
Experience in product-based development environments.
Exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
