Duration: Contract/Contract to Hire

Rate: 60/hr on w2 or 65/hr C2C
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior .NET Developer to support and modernize a large, established enterprise application environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer who has strong experience with legacy Microsoft technologies, particularly C#, .NET Framework, and WCF, along with experience modernizing applications to newer versions of .NET.
The ideal candidate understands how legacy .NET applications are built and integrated, can troubleshoot existing systems, and has experience modernizing applications incrementally without requiring a complete rewrite.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and modernize applications built with C# and .NET Framework 4.x.
Support existing WCF services, including service contracts, bindings, configurations, and integrations.
Assist with migration and modernization efforts from .NET Framework to modern .NET (.NET 6/8+).
Identify and resolve dependency, NuGet package, compatibility, and multi-targeting issues during modernization.
Work with SQL Server, stored procedures, ADO.NET, and existing enterprise data access patterns.
Support application builds and deployments using MSBuild, NuGet, PowerShell, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement changes with an emphasis on stability and minimizing risk.
Collaborate with onshore/offshore development teams, technical stakeholders, and client teams.
Improve code quality, technical documentation, and development processes as applications are modernized.
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on development experience with C# and .NET Framework 4.x.
Hands-on experience working with WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) services.
Experience supporting or modernizing legacy .NET applications toward .NET Core / .NET 6/8 or newer.
Strong SQL Server skills with the ability to understand stored procedures and existing database logic.
Experience with ADO.NET and/or DataSets in legacy applications.
Experience with NuGet, MSBuild, PowerShell, and Azure DevOps/CI/CD pipelines.
Experience troubleshooting and safely deploying changes within production enterprise environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work directly with technical and business stakeholders.
Must be located in Minnesota and comfortable with occasional onsite work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF/WF 4, XAML) experience.
Retail or Point-of-Sale (POS) application experience.
Knowledge of payments technologies and concepts such as EMV, tenders, store-and-forward, and PCI DSS.
Familiarity with Angular or other client-side web technologies.
Experience with ASP.NET Core, CoreWCF, and OpenID Connect.
Experience with application security/remediation tools such as Checkmarx.
Experience with TeamCity or similar build/deployment tooling.
