UAT / Test Lead

Varmoda is seeking a highly motivated UAT / Test Lead to support end-to-end user acceptance testing for a statewide eligibility system pilot serving county and Tribal Nation human services agencies. The ideal candidate will have experience leading multi-stakeholder UAT efforts, developing policy-driven test scenarios, and coordinating defect tracking and resolution across distributed government project teams. This role will collaborate closely with State program, IT, and product management teams to ensure a successful, well-tested system launch.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and own end-to-end UAT coordination across the pilot agencies, including test scenario design, tester coordination, and issue tracking/triage with State/dev teams
• Own creation of all UAT deliverables (test strategy, scenarios/scripts, test data, defect log, daily status, go/no-go recommendation, final UAT summary), working with State staff to ensure accuracy and direction
• Develop realistic, policy-driven test scenarios covering initial application intake steps (person/household search, program participation verification, application data validation, expedited status, worker assignment) across all in-scope public assistance programs (SNAP, GA, MFIP, MSA, RCA, Tribal TANF, Emergency Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Housing support)
• Ensure designated State program staff are engaged in the full scope of testing; coordinate directly with county and Tribal Nation testers
• Track, triage, and prioritize identified defects/issues with State Product Management and development teams, and manage communications/feedback to testers on resolution status
• Document and prioritize issues, gaps, and enhancements identified during UAT prior to Go-Live
• Provide a go/no-go recommendation ahead of Go-Live launch
• Support pilot feedback and evaluation efforts by contributing UAT-related data to monthly/weekly governance dashboards and reporting to State sponsors
• Adopt the State's meeting schedule and program procedures; participate in local agency project meetings as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of UAT/test lead experience, including multi-stakeholder test coordination across distributed agency/government users
• Demonstrated experience developing policy-driven test scenarios, test scripts, and defect/issue tracking for system integration or platform rollout efforts
• Experience coordinating testing across 20-40+ person cross-functional project teams (State, integration partner, program staff)
• Strong documentation, triage, and stakeholder communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with eligibility/benefits system testing (SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, or similar public assistance programs)
• Familiarity with State/local government or human services IT programs
• Experience testing legacy-to-web or mainframe/API-integration efforts
• Familiarity with accessibility-compliant deliverable standards (WCAG)

Certifications

• ISTQB (Certified Tester) or equivalent test management certification preferred
• CSM/Agile certification a plus
