Senior Data Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Boca Raton, FL.

Key Responsibilities:
* Senior Data Engineer will serve as a hands-on senior engineer, owning design, development, optimization, and support of data pipelines
* Work directly with the Lead Engineer and Architect on solution design and implementation
* Build and optimize micro-batch data pipelines with refresh intervals of ~1-2 minutes
* Ensure pipelines meet strict performance SLAs, including sub-two-minute refresh KPIs
* Write and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures
* Tune performance at the data, pipeline, and query level to support real-time AI workloads
* As a Senior Data Engineer, you will support high-availability, customer-facing APIs that require continuous data freshness
* Proactively identify improvement opportunities and recommend technical enhancements
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level engineers (no people management)
* Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

REQUIREMENTS:
* Experience with cloud data platforms, with a strong preference for: Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform); BigQuery (required); Cloud Spanner (nice to have)
* Proven experience building and operating data pipelines for: Micro-batch or near-real-time workloads; High-throughput, low-latency environments
* Experience with Informatica Cloud (strongly preferred; Not required if cloud + SQL expertise is strong)
* Demonstrated performance-tuning experience in data-intensive systems
* Strong expertise in SQL, including advanced query optimization and stored procedures
* Familiarity with data architectures supporting AI/ML platforms and downstream APIs
* Strong communicator and collaborative team player
* Comfortable working onsite and engaging directly with business stakeholders
* Self-directed engineer who can drive improvements independently
* Pragmatic problem-solver who balances speed, quality, and scalability
* Trusted technical voice who contributes ideas

Preferred Background:
* 8+ years of data engineering experience (~5 years considered for exceptional candidates)
* Prior ownership of mission-critical data platforms
* Experience supporting AI-enabled systems or real-time customer applications
* Background in fast-moving, high-availability environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
