Overview

A leading national specialty contractor is seeking an experienced Department Manager to oversee its scope of work on a large-scale data center campus in El Paso, TX. This is a high-visibility leadership role on a multi-year project (minimum 2 years) with significant responsibility for operational execution, financial performance, and team development.
This role is ideal for a seasoned leader who can run the site like a business, build high-performing teams, and partner closely with a major data center end customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, build, and manage an on-site department supporting a large, multi-building data center campus
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and manage exempt and non-exempt staff
  • Own departmental performance including staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and accountability
  • Manage full P&L responsibility to achieve revenue, margin, and profitability targets
  • Oversee scopes of work including (but not limited to):
    • Structured cabling
    • Audio-Visual systems
    • Security and access control
    • Life safety systems
    • Estimating and/or BIM coordination
  • Participate in and support proposal and bid efforts
  • Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and customer representatives
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Promote company culture, safety, and operational excellence on-site

  • Developing trusted relationships with the customer and internal peers
  • Holding PMs, peers, and leadership partners accountable while advocating for needed resources

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
  • 10+ years managing complex low-voltage, construction, or commercial infrastructure projects
  • 7+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • 5+ years experience in telecommunications, low voltage, or related construction fields
  • Proven experience managing full project lifecycles: budget, schedule, staffing, and profitability
  • Strong customer-facing experience as a liaison between contractor and client
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a company-sponsored corporate card

Preferred

  • Experience managing large data center or multi-building construction sites
  • Familiarity with BIM environments and estimating workflows

Work Environment

  • New data center construction site
  • On-site Monday-Thursday
  • Potential for remote work on Fridays if project milestones are being met

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
  • Bonus Potential: $15,000 - $20,000 per quarter
    • Up to $80,000 annually based on revenue and profitability metrics
  • Car Allowance: $750/month
  • Cell Phone Allowance: $150/month
  • Total Compensation Range: $210,000 - $230,000+
  • Highly competitive compensation tied directly to performance and project success

The pay range for this position is $200000.00 - $240000.00/yr.
