Summary

Job Title: Workday Solution Architect (Core HCM)

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Location: 100% Remote (EST Time Zone Preferred)

 

Job Summary

Client  is seeking an experienced Workday Solution Architect with strong expertise in Core HCM and Workday configuration to support enterprise HR transformation initiatives. This is a highly consultative, hands-on role requiring both solution architecture (50%) and Workday configuration (50%).

The ideal candidate will work directly with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to understand business challenges, design scalable Workday solutions, configure the platform, and recommend process improvements that reduce manual effort and simplify HR operations. This is not an integration-focused role.

 

Key Responsibilities

•Partner directly with HR COE stakeholders to understand business needs and identify the underlying business problem before proposing solutions.

•Design scalable Workday solutions that align with HR strategy and business objectives.

•Perform hands-on Workday configuration, including:

O Business Process Configuration

O Calculated Fields

O Condition Rules

O Custom Reports

•Recommend the best approach by evaluating:

O Standard Workday functionality

O Configuration options

O Business process or policy changes

•Assess cross-functional impacts across Workday modules such as Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Performance, and Compensation.

•Collaborate with Security and Data Management teams on security design, worker data loads, and EIB-related activities.

•Support Workday biannual release management by assessing new functionality and recommending feature adoption.

•Provide architectural guidance for HR technology initiatives, including build vs. buy recommendations.

•Maintain comprehensive configuration and solution documentation for auditability and knowledge transfer.

•Drive business process improvements to simplify workflows and reduce manual effort.

Required Qualifications

•8–10+ years of hands-on Workday configuration experience in enterprise environments.

•Proven experience owning both solution design and Workday configuration from requirements through implementation.

•Strong expertise in Core HCM with experience in several of the following:

O Recruiting

O Performance Management

O Talent Management

O Advanced Compensation

O Succession Planning

• Experience configuring:

O Business Processes

O Calculated Fields

O Condition Rules

O Custom Reports

•Strong understanding of the Workday HCM data model and module relationships.

•Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable Workday solutions.

•Experience working within production Workday tenants.

•Working knowledge of:

O Workday Security concepts

O EIBs

O Worker data loads

•Excellent consulting, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

•Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge business assumptions and recommend best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

•Workday Certification (Core HCM or relevant Workday Suite certifications).

•Experience with Workday Prism Analytics.

•Exposure to Global HR organizations.

•Experience supporting organizations with Finance or global enterprise environments.

•Knowledge of Payroll, Compensation, and broader Workday ecosystem.

•Experience leading HR transformation or process optimization initiatives.
