Requirements Writer / Business Analyst to work in our
Washington, DC office.
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with stakeholders across various business units and IT to identify, document, and manage functional and technical requirements for new systems, processes, and enhancements. The ideal candidate will translate complex business needs into clear, concise, and actionable specifications for development and project teams, ensuring solutions align with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities - Requirements Elicitation: Lead and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and partners to gather, analyze, and validate business and user requirements.
- Documentation: Create detailed requirements specifications, functional design documents, process models (using tools like Visio), use cases, and user stories.
- Process Analysis: Document and analyze current state business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Liaison & Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, project managers, and technical development/QA teams, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding of requirements.
- Solution Design & Validation: Collaborate with technical teams to design and prototype potential solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and obtaining stakeholder sign-off.
- Testing Support: Assist in defining testing strategies, developing test cases, and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and defect validation.
- Change Management: Manage changes to requirements through a formal change management process, assessing the impact on the project scope, schedule, and budget.
- End-User Documentation: Support the development and maintenance of high-quality end-user manuals, training materials, and support documentation as needed.
Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000

Required Skills - Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical/scientific field is required.
- Experience: Proven experience (typically 3-5+ years) working as a Business Analyst, Requirements Analyst, or Technical Writer in a project environment.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for a non-technical audience.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps), process modeling software (e.g., Visio, VersionOne), and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired Skills - Certifications (Preferred): Relevant professional certifications such as the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) are a plus.
- Methodologies: Familiarity with project management and software development methodologies, including Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall. Process improvement, Lean or Six Sigma
- Federal experience, specifically within the Postal Service, is a plus
