About the Opportunity:
Our client is an established boutique law firm with a broad civil litigation practice. This associate will work on commercial and business disputes, estate/trust controversies, employment matters and other civil litigation, taking meaningful responsibility for written advocacy, discovery, hearings and trial preparation.
Must-Haves:
- 2+ years of litigation experience
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active Illinois Bar admission
- Excellent research, writing and analytical skills
- Strong communication and organization
- Professional, responsive and client-centered
- Initiative, ownership and leadership-focused qualities
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs and litigation filings
- Conduct research and help develop case strategy
- Manage discovery and case-development workstreams
- Prepare for hearings, depositions and trial
- Communicate with clients and keep matters moving
- Own deadlines, organization and follow-through
- Take the lead on assignments appropriate to experience
Strong Plus:
- Commercial or business litigation depth
- Trust/estate or employment dispute exposure
- Courtroom, hearing or deposition experience
- Trial preparation or ADR exposure
Likely Current Titles: Litigation Associate, Commercial Litigation Associate, Civil Litigation Associate, Business Litigation Associate, Mid-Level Associate.
