Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Specialist to join our team on a long-term onsite contract in Des Moines, IA. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in designing, deploying, and managing scalable cloud solutions on AWS. This role requires deep technical knowledge of AWS services, cloud architecture, and best practices for security, performance, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure
- Develop and manage cloud architecture using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFormation, etc.
- Automate deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks (Terraform/CloudFormation)
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal uptime and reliability
- Implement security best practices including IAM roles, policies, encryption, and compliance standards
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support application deployment and cloud migration efforts
- Perform cost optimization and resource utilization analysis
- Maintain documentation for cloud architecture, processes, and configurations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Hands-on expertise in services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, IAM
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, Load Balancing)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, etc.)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or similar)
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- Exposure to monitoring/logging tools and security compliance frameworks
- Prior experience in large-scale cloud migration projects
