Hours: M-F 8am to 5pm to start and then will transfer to 7-5 front half or back half day shift
About the RoleAs an Entry-Level Data Center Operations Engineer, you will help support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of our world-class data centers. This role is ideal for someone early in their technical career who brings hands-on electrical or mechanical experience and a strong desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
You will work alongside experienced Data Center Technicians and Engineers as you develop expertise in electrical systems, HVAC equipment, server hardware, safety procedures, and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities- Support the monitoring, operation, and routine maintenance of critical data center infrastructure, including:
- Electrical distribution systems
- Mechanical and HVAC equipment
- Cooling systems and controls
- Assist with troubleshooting facility equipment under the guidance of senior personnel.
- Perform basic rounds, inspections, and documentation to ensure equipment performance and uptime.
- Respond to alarms and escalate issues appropriately.
- Assist with installation or removal of hardware, cabling, and power equipment.
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols and Amazon's operational procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training to build technical knowledge in data center engineering disciplines.
Basic Qualifications- 1+ years of professional Electrician experience in commercial or industrial environments OR 1+ year of HVAC (commercial, industrial, or trade school accepted).
- Strong desire to learn and expand technical skill sets-particularly in data center, mechanical, or electrical operations.
- Ability to work in a physically active role (lifting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces).
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights or weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications- Exposure to power tools, test equipment, or electrical troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures (LOTO, PPE use, electrical safety).
- Trade school, technical school, or military training in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or related fields.
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset.
- Curiosity and willingness to take on new challenges in a highly technical environment.
