Overview
The Florida Department of Health is seeking an experienced Systems Security Specialist to support enterprise cybersecurity operations within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). This individual will serve as a primary security administrator responsible for managing and optimizing critical security platforms while supporting incident response, email security, threat hunting, and cybersecurity operations across a large enterprise environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience administering enterprise security solutions, investigating security incidents, improving detection capabilities, and managing Microsoft and third-party email security technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Security Platform Administration
Administer and support enterprise security platforms including:
o Palo Alto Cortex
o Microsoft Defender
o Tanium
o Proofpoint
o Tessian
o Abnormal Security
Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize security controls, policies, alerts, integrations, and automated response actions.
Monitor platform health, licensing, agent status, and security effectiveness.
Identify control gaps and recommend security improvements.
Microsoft Exchange & Email Security
Administer Microsoft Exchange Online and email security infrastructure.
Manage mail flow, transport rules, connectors, message tracing, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and quarantine processes.
Investigate phishing campaigns, spoofing attempts, business email compromise (BEC), and other email security incidents.
Coordinate security controls across Microsoft and third-party email security platforms.
Incident Response & Threat Hunting
Respond to cybersecurity incidents across endpoints, email, identity, and cloud environments.
Conduct threat hunting and investigation activities.
Analyze indicators of compromise and coordinate remediation activities.
Document findings, remediation efforts, and lessons learned.
Assist with security monitoring and operational improvements.
Security Engineering & Optimization
Improve detection capabilities and security configurations.
Deploy and maintain security policies and controls.
Support vulnerability management activities.
Recommend enhancements to improve security posture and operational efficiency.
Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Experience
7+ years of enterprise IT and cybersecurity experience.
Experience in:
o Security Engineering
o Security Operations
o Endpoint Security
o Identity Security
o Cloud Security
Security Platforms
4+ years of recent hands-on experience with:
o Palo Alto Cortex
o Tanium
o Tanium Comply
Email Security
3+ years of hands-on experience with:
o Proofpoint
o Tessian
o Abnormal Security
