Provide basic support to end users of an assigned module or functionality of an enterprise system in departments Countywide; assists with resolving functionality issues; assists with maintaining an assigned module or functionality of an enterprise system; performs related work as required.
Essential Duties
This Information Technology position is dedicated to supporting the Department of Public Works (DPW) and plays a key role in the implementation, configuration, and ongoing support of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) systems critical to DPW operations, including but not limited to Cityworks, Bluebeam, Autodesk PlanGrid, and several in-house applications, with Cityworks as the primary focus. Cityworks AMS is a GIS-centric Service Request, Work Order, Inventory, and Asset Management system used to track activity across several divisions within Public Works, Public Utilities, Recreation & Parks, and the Division of Fire with planned expansion into other Henrico County departments. Examples of work performed include but are not limited to:
- General systems administration tasks (creating and testing new configurations, migrating changes across environments, and providing guidance on system capabilities)
- Troubleshoot and resolve system, database, and process issues
- Gather requirements from end-users
- Generate statements of work and design documentation
- Develop SQL data extracts, workflows, reports, etc.
- Develop and maintain database views/procedures/functions/jobs and other objects
- Create ad-hoc queries, reports, data analytics and visualizations
- Open and manage tickets with end-users and vendors for issue resolution
Cityworks administration and GIS experience is highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of IT best practices; proficiency in SQL; working knowledge of relational databases; experience with the implementation, configuration, and administration of COTS systems; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; requirements gathering and analysis; experience with report writing tools, such as Crystal Reports, Power BI, or other comparable tools; excellent communication and critical thinking skills; and the ability to convey technical information to non-technical customers.
Minimum Qualifications
The hiring department anticipates filling this position at the
IT Systems Developer I or II level with an anticipated hiring range of $72,060.36 - $82,943.73 depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant and the needs of the organization at the time of hire. The position may be filled at the IT Systems Developer III or Senior level based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Salary placement above the anticipated range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly exceed the expected requirements of the position and would correspond to the approved range for the hiring level.
This position is part of a Career Development Plan (CDP), offering opportunities for advancement within the GIS Analyst series. The requirements of each level are listed below:
- IT Systems Developer I: Graduation from high school/GED including completion of some relevant coursework at the high school level and two (2) years of relevant work experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Grade HP.29 - $72,060.36 - $132,558.42)
- IT Systems Developer II: Two-year degree in a relevant IT field of study and two (2) years of relevant work experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Grade HP.30 - $75,519.45 - $138,921.57)
- IT Systems Developer III: Two-year degree in a relevant IT field of study and four (4) years of relevant work experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Grade HP.31 - $79,144.58 - $145,590.17)
- IT Systems Developer Senior: Four-year degree in a relevant IT field of study and four (4) years of relevant work experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Grade HP.32 - $82,943.73 - $152,578.89)
