Location Requirement:  The primary work location will be 701 W 51st Street, Austin, TX 78751.

Position will be 3 days remote with 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays) required to be onsite at the location listed above. Program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position.

Candidates must already reside in Texas and be local to submit their resume.

Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models. Performs security recovery procedures. Determines and implements database search strategies and storage requirements. Maintains data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and sets standards for use of data dictionary. Monitors database performance and recommends efficiency improvements. Creates test database environment for applications section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures. Executes the procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures. Assists with determining, implementing, and enhancing standards on database security and with monitoring agency disaster recovery procedures and systems. Assists with the installation of database software and with analyzing, designing, and implementing databases. Assists in benchmarking and threshold testing of databases and with establishing and controlling necessary database security. Assists in the selection of database management software. Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming work. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems design; of computer operations, systems, and procedures; of project control and cost estimating techniques; of computer programming languages; of data processing flowcharting techniques; of database structures and theories; and of current database technologies. Has working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies. Ensures that user interfaces for database administration and inputting, viewing, outputting data(via reports) are compliant with accessibility standards. Provides support to users in obtaining data / information when EIR Accessibility issues arise.   • Supports the installation of database software and migrations to new data management system software levels, and tests the migrations to ensure data reliability and functionality.
  • Analyzes, designs, modifies, and maintains database structures.
  • Designs and implements procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures.
  • Establishes and implements database security controls and user access levels.
  • Evaluates and recommends database software packages for potential acquisition.
  • Prepares and develops database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data
  • dictionaries.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of database management systems, as well as data warehouse management and decision support tools
  • Extensive experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of data warehouses and data marts is desired
  • Experience in business objects and in building the data dictionary
  • Ability to use data base access tools for application delivery
  • Strong familiarity with analysis, planning and management reporting functions
  • Well-developed oral and written communications skills
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Extremely high level of analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
  • Understanding of benchmarking processes and techniques
  • Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
  • Data Warehousing data population and data modeling techniques for target structures such as Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, and highly normalized data models
  • GUI based ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM WebSphere DataStage, or similar tools.
  • Implementation experience with enterprise class databases e.g. Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, etc. or similar technologies.
  • Implementation experience with analytical and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy or similar tools.
  • Experience with data warehouse implementation process, from business requirements through logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing and data transformation, data loading, Structured Query Language (SQL), end-user tools, database and SQL.
  • Implementation experience with analytical and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy or similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical; problem-solving; team playing; and oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work successfully with technical and non-technical groups and manage multiple responsibilities.
