Job#: 3053109 Job Description: Senior Monitoring Engineer (Zabbix/Grafana)
Location: San Francisco, California (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Monitoring Engineer to help complete a large-scale infrastructure monitoring initiative. This is not a support or maintenance role. The environment is partially built, and we are looking for a candidate who can assess the current state, complete the implementation, validate monitoring coverage, build dashboards and alerting, and deliver a fully documented solution for long-term ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete and optimize an existing Zabbix monitoring environment.
- Build, enhance, and maintain Grafana dashboards and visualizations.
- Validate device monitoring, telemetry collection, and infrastructure visibility.
- Configure and refine monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities.
- Troubleshoot issues related to monitoring coverage and data collection.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to understand existing deployments.
- Support limited server installation and configuration activities as needed.
- Create clear documentation, operational procedures, and handoff materials.
- Provide knowledge transfer to internal engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Zabbix.
- Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting Zabbix in production environments.
- Experience with Grafana dashboard creation and visualization.
- Experience implementing monitoring or observability solutions from start to finish.
- Strong documentation and knowledge transfer skills.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Ability to work independently and become productive quickly within an existing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ubuntu administration experience.
- Corelight experience.
- Experience with multi-site infrastructure environments.
- Experience with physical server deployment and provisioning.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or other Atlassian tools.
- Background in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, monitoring, observability, or site reliability engineering.
