Summary

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a Hybrid/Remote position with a Global Engineering Firm located in Indianapolis, IN. This is a 5+ month contract opportunity.

This role leads the structural analysis and design of steel and concrete building systems, providing technical direction from initial concept through construction. The ideal candidate brings 10-20 years of structural engineering experience, strong technical judgment, and advanced proficiency in STAAD Pro, with the ability to independently lead complex designs, review engineering deliverables, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead structural design activities, establishing design criteria, selecting structural systems, and developing safe, constructible solutions
  • Perform and review structural calculations using hand calculations, spreadsheets, Mathcad, and 3D analysis models in STAAD Pro
  • Design and evaluate steel framing, concrete structures, foundations, and connections across a variety of projects
  • Direct structural designers and coordinate the development of complete contract drawings, specifications, and supporting calculations
  • Review engineering calculations, models, and drawings for accuracy, code compliance, coordination, and constructability
  • Serve as a senior technical resource, resolving complex design issues and providing guidance to engineers and designers
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to manage scope, schedules, and technical requirements
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support consistent engineering standards and quality control practices
  • Support construction through responses to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluation of field conditions and proposed changes

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design of building systems; 10-20 years preferred
  • Extensive experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead structural design assignments and review the work of other engineers
  • Advanced working proficiency in STAAD Pro
  • Working knowledge of Revit and experience coordinating structural BIM models and drawing production
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other applicable structural codes and standards
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects and communicating technical recommendations to clients and project teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay range: Up to $82.73 per hour
