Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a large, enterprise healthcare organization in Columbus, Ohio. This individual will help design, develop, and support enterprise data platforms and data integration solutions used for reporting, analytics, business intelligence, and advanced analytics initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL, data warehousing, dimensional data modeling, ETL/data pipelines, and enterprise data environments. This is a senior-level, hands-on position that will also provide technical leadership on complex data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise data warehouse and data integration solutions.
  • Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple source systems.
  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models, including dimensional models supporting reporting and analytics.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries and troubleshoot data, performance, and integration issues.
  • Develop batch and near-real-time data integration solutions supporting enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Work with large, complex, and potentially disconnected datasets from multiple enterprise systems.
  • Partner with analysts, data scientists, application teams, architects, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of data and process issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Help improve data quality, scalability, reliability, and performance across enterprise data platforms.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of data solutions across on-premise and cloud-based environments.
  • Contribute to data engineering standards, architecture, development methodologies, and technical best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the data and analytics organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Information Technology with significant experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data integration, database development, or related disciplines.
  • Advanced/expert-level SQL skills, including complex query development and optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database design and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong experience with dimensional data modeling and schema design.
  • Hands-on experience developing and supporting ETL/ELT processes and enterprise data pipelines.
  • Experience with ETL, data integration, workflow, or pipeline orchestration technologies.
  • Experience working with large and complex enterprise datasets.
  • Experience troubleshooting data quality, data integration, and performance issues.
  • Understanding of modern data engineering concepts, architecture, and development best practices.
  • Experience working in on-premise and/or cloud data environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently on complex, high-impact technical initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ETL technologies such as SSIS, Informatica, DataStage, or comparable enterprise data integration platforms.
  • Experience with workflow/orchestration technologies such as Airflow or similar tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with big-data or distributed-data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, or NoSQL platforms.
  • Programming experience with Python, Java, Scala, R, or similar languages.
  • Experience with BI and visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
  • Experience with metadata management, data governance, and/or data modeling tools.
  • Previous experience working with healthcare or health-system data is a plus.
  • Bachelor''''s or Master''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, or a related discipline.

This position is contract-to-hire and requires the ability to work in a hybrid/onsite capacity in Columbus, Ohio.
