As a Senior Staff member of the Product Engineering team at Sage Products, a Stryker business unit, you will play a pivotal role in sustaining and enhancing our portfolio of commercialized products. This position is focused on driving engineering excellence and delivering impactful initiatives-particularly within product packaging-across a diverse range of high-volume pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical devices. You will leverage your expertise to support ongoing product improvement while ensuring the highest standards of quality and innovation.

What You Will Do
  • Provide leadership in establishing direction and standards for the maintenance, enhancement, and lifecycle management of product and packaging designs across the Sage portfolio.
  • Guide improvements for structural packaging, labelling systems, and product configurations for sterile and non-sterile medical devices, formulations, hardware, and combination products.
  • Drive production support, quality improvements, line extensions, CAPA/NC, and cost-saving initiatives through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with released products and packaging, including customer complaints and manufacturing defects, ensuring timely documentation.
  • Lead product and packaging design changes, enhancements, and manufacturing process improvements, including alternate component or supplier qualifications for supply continuity and cost optimization.
  • Create, refine, and maintain engineering documentation (DHF, DMR, specifications, risk management files) in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Support internal and external audits, non-conformances, and CAPAs related to product and packaging design and manufacturing processes.
  • Mentor teams in the creation and enhancement of engineering documentation, providing technical guidance and establishing standards to ensure consistent, high-quality, and compliant technical content.

What you will need:
Required (minimum) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials, Packaging Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in regulated industries, with a preference for the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical sectors

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in developing packaging for medical devices and/or pharmaceutical products
  • Strong familiarity with industry standards applicable to packaging design for medical devices and pharmaceutical products
  • Proficient in design and concept creation, as well as engineering analysis using CAD and CAE software tools
  • Skilled in statistical analysis, including interpretation and clear communication of findings

$102,600 - $222,300 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
