Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Unix/Linux Systems Administrator to support enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure, cybersecurity remediation, system hardening, automation, and production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix administration, Shell scripting, vulnerability remediation, AWS/cloud infrastructure, security controls, and operational automation.
This role will work closely with application, security, architecture, cloud, and infrastructure teams to remediate compliance findings, maintain secure infrastructure, support production deployments, and reduce technology risk.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform operating system upgrades, patching, configuration, and security hardening across Unix/Linux environments.
  • Analyze and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and compliance findings.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Unix/Linux Shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Support application teams with remediation, testing, deployments, and production activities.
  • Participate in legacy infrastructure decommissioning and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Security, Architecture, Cloud, Network, and Infrastructure teams to achieve security and compliance objectives.
  • Implement and maintain system security controls, configuration standards, and hardening procedures.
  • Support vulnerability remediation activities and security compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex Unix/Linux infrastructure and production issues.
  • Support production changes, incident resolution, and emergency remediation activities when required.
  • Maintain operational runbooks, technical documentation, implementation procedures, and remediation records.
  • Work with CI/CD and automation tools to improve infrastructure deployment and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and security posture.
  • Track remediation progress and provide regular status updates to project and technical leadership.
Required Skills
  • 6+ years of Unix/Linux System Administration experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Strong Shell Scripting skills – Bash, KornShell (KSH), and/or Python.
  • Experience with vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and OS patching.
  • Knowledge of AWS and cloud infrastructure.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure security controls.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, monitoring, automation, and infrastructure management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working in enterprise production environments.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with security, application, cloud, and infrastructure teams.
Preferred Skills
  • AWS infrastructure and cloud security experience.
  • Experience with enterprise vulnerability management tools.
  • Knowledge of security/compliance frameworks and remediation processes.
  • Experience with Jenkins, Git, GitHub/GitLab, or similar CI/CD technologies.
  • Experience with Ansible or other configuration-management/automation tools.
  • Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience supporting financial services or highly regulated enterprise environments is preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Work Location
Norfolk County, Massachusetts – Onsite
No Remote Work. Candidates must be willing to work onsite.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strong Unix/Linux infrastructure professional with hands-on experience in system administration, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, Shell scripting, AWS, automation, and production support. Experience working with enterprise financial-services environments and security/compliance initiatives will be highly valued.
