Summary

Job Description

ECS is seeking a Network Architect - SME to work in our Washington, DC - Hybrid office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

ECS is seeking a Network Architect Subject Matter Expert to provide strategic technical leadership for enterprise network infrastructure at the SEC. As the SEC modernizes its IT environment with cloud services, AI workloads, and Zero Trust security, the network must evolve from a traditional campdata center architecture to a modern, software-defined, automation-enabled fabric that supports the agency's transformation goals. You will be the principal authority on network architecture decisions.

You will design next-generation network architectures that support hybrid cloud connectivity, high-bandwidth AI/ML data flows, Zero Trust segmentation, and software-defined networking. This role requires someone who can look 3-5 years ahead and design network infrastructure that enables-rather than constrains-the SEC's modernization and AI strategy.

General Description of Benefits

  • 12+ years of enterprise network architecture and design experience, with at least 5 years as a lead architect or SME
  • Expert knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, and load balancing technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or equivalent)
  • Experience designing networks that support cloud connectivity (AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, SD-WAN)
  • Deep expertise in Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA)-microsegmentation, identity-aware access, continuous verification
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN), network automation (Ansible, Python/Netmiko, NAPALM), and network-as-code practices
  • Knowledge of high-performance networking requirements for AI/ML workloads (high-bandwidth, low-latency, GPU cluster networking)
  • Experience with network security architecture (next-gen firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, DDoS protection, encrypted traffic inspection)
  • Strong knowledge of federal network security requirements (NIST 800-53, TIC 3.0, CDM, IPv6 transition)
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain; U.S. citizenship required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master's degree strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and 15+ years of experience accepted.

Desired Skills

  • CCIE (Routing & Switching or Security) or equivalent expert-level certification
  • Experience with SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) architecture
  • Knowledge of network observability and AIOps for network operations (ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA, SolarWinds)
  • Experience with network automation frameworks and intent-based networking
  • Familiarity with TIC 3.0 overlay models for cloud-connected federal networks
  • Experience in a federal financial regulatory environment
