Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Assembly Bay Manager lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for system-level integration, verification, and validation of hypersonic components and flight systems. This role oversees test strategy, operations, team development, and cross-functional coordination to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements. The manager blends deep technical understanding with strong leadership to drive efficient execution, early issue discovery, and high-quality product delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of integration & test engineers and technicians.
Define team priorities, allocate resources, and manage workload across multiple concurrent programs.
Build a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and long-term career development.

Technical Oversight

Establish integration and test strategies aligned with system requirements and program objectives.
Review and approve test plans, procedures, scripts, and integration configurations.
Provide guidance on system architecture, interfaces, requirements traceability, and verification methods.
Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for system-level issues.

Program Execution & Lab Operations

Oversee execution of integration activities, functional testing, performance testing, and regression testing.
Ensure test environments, benches, and labs are properly maintained, configured, and safe to operate.
Manage configuration control, test readiness reviews, and integration milestones.
Coordinate with program management to track progress, risks, and resource needs.

Cross Functional Collaboration

Partner with systems engineering, hardware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to define test requirements and resolve integration challenges.
Communicate test results, risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
Support customer reviews, audits, and technical discussions as needed.

Process & Capability Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve integration workflows, automation, and test efficiency.
Drive adoption of best practices in requirements verification, defect tracking, and configuration management.
Champion investments in new tools, test equipment, and infrastructure to expand team capability.
Maintain and evolve documentation, procedures, and training materials.

Experience and Skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Yes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Significant experience in system integration, verification, or hardware/software testing.
Strong understanding of system architecture, interfaces, and requirements management.
Demonstrated leadership experience in an engineering or test environment.
Proficiency with test equipment, automation tools, and data analysis platforms.
Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline
10+ years of experience in flight vehicle assembly and integration.
