Position Overview:
Note: This is a W2 only role — C2C, C2H will not be considered
The Infrastructure Automation Team is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Software Engineer to support a major greenfield ServiceNow implementation and the modernization of the team’s existing ServiceNow development and automation workflows. The organization is moving toward greater use of out-of-the-box ServiceNow capabilities, reduced customization, and a platform foundation that can better support ServiceNow artificial intelligence capabilities.
This team is not the enterprise ServiceNow platform team. It is a development team that builds and supports integrations between ServiceNow and infrastructure automation solutions. Current integrations use Ansible to update change tickets and incident tickets, fulfill service requests, and support related operational workflows. As the new ServiceNow environment is introduced, existing ServiceNow development workflows, field mappings, integrations, and associated Ansible code will need to be reviewed and updated.
The ideal candidate is first and foremost an experienced ServiceNow developer who can work effectively in a new implementation while helping reduce technical debt and unnecessary customization. Ansible experience is a significant advantage because this role will work directly with automation code and ServiceNow integrations.

Responsibilities:
• Provide senior-level ServiceNow development support for a greenfield implementation and related modernization initiatives.
• Design and develop ServiceNow solutions that favor out-of-the-box platform capabilities and minimize unnecessary customization.
• Review existing ServiceNow development workflows, field mappings, scripts, and integrations and update them for the new platform environment.
• Develop, test, deploy, and support integrations that use Ansible to update change tickets, incident tickets, service requests, and other operational records in ServiceNow.
• Update associated Ansible automation code as ServiceNow fields, workflows, and integration requirements change.
• Partner with the enterprise ServiceNow platform team while owning development work for the Infrastructure Automation Team’s solutions and integrations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, service management, application, cybersecurity, and digital engineering teams to translate operational needs into maintainable ServiceNow solutions.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, simplify existing solutions, and improve long-term platform supportability.
• Ensure new development aligns with platform standards, security requirements, release practices, and the direction of the greenfield implementation.
• Troubleshoot complex workflow, scripting, integration, and automation issues and implement sustainable resolutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for workflows, field mappings, integration logic, support procedures, and knowledge transfer.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, release activities, platform readiness efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide ServiceNow development guidance and share reusable patterns and best practices with team members.
Qualifications:
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Senior-level experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting ServiceNow solutions in an enterprise environment.

• Experience building and maintaining integrations using REST application programming interfaces, web services, webhooks, or comparable integration methods.
• Experience evaluating customized ServiceNow solutions and redesigning them to use out-of-the-box capabilities when appropriate.
• Experience updating integrations and development workflows when ServiceNow data models, fields, or platform requirements change.
• Ability to work effectively with a centralized ServiceNow platform team while independently delivering development work for an adjacent technical team.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, release management, and production support.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Preferred
• Hands-on experience with Ansible Core, Open Source Ansible, or Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow with Ansible Automation Platform or other enterprise automation and orchestration technologies.

• Experience reducing ServiceNow technical debt and moving heavily customized solutions toward standard platform capabilities.
• Experience preparing ServiceNow solutions and data structures to support ServiceNow artificial intelligence capabilities.
• Experience with JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Git-based source control, and continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
• Relevant ServiceNow or Red Hat Ansible certifications.
Additional Success Factors
• Ability to balance immediate project delivery with long-term maintainability and platform standards.
• Practical judgment about when to configure, customize, integrate, or use out-of-the-box ServiceNow capabilities.
• Ability to understand existing automation and integration logic and adapt it to a changing ServiceNow environment.
• Commitment to secure, reliable, testable, and well-documented solutions.
• Ability to build productive working relationships across platform, automation, infrastructure, and service management teams.
