Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Avionics Engineer to join our Avionics team as a Test Rig Engineer. This role will lead the effort, from the Avionics aspects, with end-end development, operation, and maintenance of complex test rigs including benchtop level testing, and engine/propulsion testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and/or electro-mechanical design, including working schematics, and design documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work the architecture, design, and integration of the Avionics components into multiple different test rigs.
  • Design and route complex wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and specialized sensor instrumentation for test stand environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, mechanical engineering, propulsion, and software engineering, to define avionics system requirements and specifications.
  • Lead/support the development and execution of test plans for the test rigs during functional and Flight testing.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews to analyze test data, isolate anomalies, and drive electrical, mechanical, or software issues to root-cause closure.
  • Support system-level testing and validation to verify the functionality and reliability of avionics systems under various operating conditions.
  • Lead tasking of Avionics technicians to work the assembly and integration of the test rigs.
  • Perform electrical analysis and simulations to evaluate avionics system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Prepare technical reports, design reviews, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, test results, and compliance records

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related Electro-Mechanical field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in avionics engineering, preferably in the space or aerospace industry.
  • Experience in working with cross functional teams such as Propulsion, Mechanisms, and Thermal.
  • Proven experience with avionics system design, flight harness design, analysis, and testing for space or flight vehicles.
  • Experience in electrical design and documentation software (e.g., Altium).
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, and power distribution.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for space and aerospace applications.
  • Experience in the petrochemical industry will be considered with a strong emphasis on plant design / build / operation / maintenance using the above skills and toolsets, minimum 10 years.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
