Overview

QBE, LLC is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Defense Manager - SecOps/IR Lead to lead security operations and incident response activities supporting NIH/OD-OIT.

This position is primarily remote but will require some TDY.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day Security Operations Center and incident response activities.

Manage detection, analysis, escalation, containment, eradication, and recovery activities.

Direct Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, threat hunting, and engineering coordination as applicable.

Establish and maintain incident response procedures, playbooks, and escalation paths.

Provide technical leadership during significant cybersecurity incidents.

Review alerts, investigations, and incident cases for quality and completeness.

Coordinate incident response activities with government leadership and technical stakeholders.

Analyze operational metrics and recommend improvements to detection and response capabilities.

Ensure timely reporting and documentation of cybersecurity incidents.

Oversee integration of threat intelligence into security operations.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, information systems, business, communications, or a related field, or an additional two or more years of relevant experience in place of the degree requirement.

At least 8 years of relevant experience aligned to the responsibilities of this position.

Demonstrated experience leading cybersecurity operations or incident response teams.

Strong knowledge of security monitoring, incident handling, threat analysis, and cyber defense.

Experience coordinating complex security incidents across technical teams.

Strong knowledge of cybersecurity governance, risk, and control principles.

CompTIA Security+ certification.

Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification.

Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification.

Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification.

Ability to obtain and maintain the required federal background investigation, Public Trust determination, or security clearance associated with the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing federal SOC operations.

Experience supporting HHS, NIH, or other federal civilian customers.

Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, threat intelligence, and case-management platforms.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer.

Ability to communicate effectively through virtual and in-person meetings.

Ability to perform duties in an office, remote, or hybrid environment based on program requirements.

The projected compensation range for this position is $130,000.00 - $145,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (for remote opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
