Summary:

The Surgical Supply Operations Analyst ensures the accuracy and compliance of billing, repairs, and equipment returns within the healthcare facility's operating rooms. This role involves conducting detailed audits, managing procurement, and collaborating with various stakeholders to identify discrepancies, recommend corrections, and enhance revenue integrity. Oversight for areas of operation include operating rooms in the main surgical tower of UNCH Medical Center, Children's Hospital, Hillsborough Hospital, Anesthesia, Pediatric Endoscopy and Pediatric procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Charge Audit and Validation: Conduct thorough audits of operating room charges, verify billing codes and documentation, perform monthly reviews for quantity and cost errors, and handle an average of 130-180 postings per day.
  2. Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Ensure compliance with coding and billing guidelines, provide guidance to mitigate compliance risks, and review key parameters such as Room, CPT, Periop Times, PACU Times, and Implant quantity.
  3. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze audit findings to identify trends and areas for improvement, compile operational data, prepare comprehensive reports, and collaborate with management to optimize revenue capture and minimize revenue leakage.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with operating room staff, coding specialists, and revenue cycle managers to address audit findings, implement process improvements, and provide expert guidance on billing practices.
  5. Repair Orders Management: Receive, prioritize, and process repair orders for various equipment, coordinate scope repairs, obtain necessary approvals, create purchase orders, and maintain a comprehensive repair log.
  6. Procurement and Equipment Returns: Assess equipment repair needs, generate purchase orders, obtain RMAs for defective items, coordinate returns and replacements with vendors, facilitate purchase orders for specialized equipment, and manage equipment returns to ensure timely resolution and replacement.
  7. Stays informed on healthcare regulations and industry standards.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

  1. If Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field, 2 years of experience as detailed below.
  2. If Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field, 3 years of experience as detailed below.
  3. If HS/GED, 6 years of experience as detailed below. Must have experience in healthcare billing, medical coding, and compliance.
  4. Must have data analysis and reporting experience.
  5. Must have experience in equipment repair and procurement within a healthcare setting, preferably in an operating room environment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, coding, and billing guidelines. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and patterns. Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, inventory management software, and data analysis/reporting tools. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Familiarity with medical equipment, specifications, and maintenance requirements.
