Job DescriptionYour RoleThe Digital Platform team creates and maintains the foundation and features upon which Stellarus technical products are built. The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Application Developer, Consultant will report to the Senior Manager, Digital Applications. In this role you will be the comprehensive subject matter expert Application Developer, Consultant, specializing in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to join the Stellarus Digital Platform team. This role requires deep expertise in developing, testing, and coordinating marketing campaigns while ensuring strict compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and state insurance requirements. The ideal candidate will lead the technical development of personalized customer communications, coordinate cross-functional testing efforts, and work closely with marketing, compliance, and IT teams to deliver secure, scalable marketing automation solutions.

ResponsibilitiesYour WorkIn this role, you will:
- Design and develop complex email marketing campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Build automated customer journeys using Journey Builder for member onboarding, renewal campaigns, and health program engagement
- Create dynamic content blocks and personalization strategies using AMPscript and dynamic content
- Develop responsive email templates optimized for various devices and email clients
- Implement advanced segmentation and targeting strategies using Audience Builder and Contact Builder
- Write and optimize AMPscript, SSJS (Server-Side JavaScript), and SQL queries for data manipulation and personalization
- Develop custom REST and SOAP API integrations between Marketing Cloud and internal systems
- Build and maintain data extensions, synchronized data sources, and automated file imports/exports
- Create custom landing pages and microsites using CloudPages and Web Studio
- Implement Marketing Cloud Connect integrations with Salesforce CRM and other enterprise systems
- Lead comprehensive testing strategies including A/B testing, multivariate testing, and personalization testing
- Coordinate testing efforts across development, QA, marketing, and compliance teams
- Establish and maintain testing protocols for campaign deployment and data accuracy
- Develop automated testing frameworks for email rendering, link validation, and data flow verification
- Document testing procedures and maintain testing environments for various campaign types
- Ensure all marketing campaigns comply with HIPAA regulations and healthcare data privacy requirements
- Implement secure data handling practices for Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Maintain audit trails and documentation for regulatory compliance purposes
- Collaborate with compliance teams to validate campaign content and data usage
- Stay current with healthcare marketing regulations and industry best practices
- Design and implement data architecture for member segmentation and campaign targeting
- Develop custom reports and dashboards using Marketing Cloud Analytics and external BI tools
- Manage data quality, cleansing, and validation processes for marketing databases
- Create automated data flows between Marketing Cloud and claims systems, member portals, and enrollment platforms
- Implement tracking and attribution models for campaign performance measurement Collaborate with development teams to integrate new features and improvements.
- Ensure security and compliance standards are met throughout the development and deployment process.
- Lead the team in regular system audits and implement necessary updates and patches.
QualificationsYour Knowledge and Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing Technology, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered
- Master's degree in relevant technical or business field preferred
- 7 years of relevant experience required preferably hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud development experience
- Expert-level proficiency in AMPscript, SSJS, and Marketing Cloud SQL
- Advanced experience with Email Studio, Journey Builder, Audience Builder, and Contact Builder required
- Strong background in REST/SOAP API development and system integrations
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive email design
- Experience with Marketing Cloud Connect and Salesforce CRM integration required
- Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare or insurance industry preferred
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements and healthcare data security preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) preferred
- Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and deployment management
- Experience with automated testing tools and continuous integration practices. Ability to coordinate testing across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex marketing automation workflows
- Experience with Marketing Cloud Personalization (Interaction Studio) preferred
- Knowledge of Salesforce Einstein features and AI/ML capabilities preferred
- Familiarity with marketing technology stack integration (CDPs, analytics platforms)
- Experience with mobile marketing and SMS/push notification campaigns
- Background in agile/scrum methodologies and sprint planning
- Experience with vendor management and third-party technology evaluations
- Track record of successful large-scale marketing automation implementations
- Continuous learning approach to stay current with Marketing Cloud platform updates
- Additional Salesforce platform certifications (Administrator, Platform Developer) preferred. Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer certification highly preferred
