Summary

NSQ6 Appearance Approval Specialist #1056285

Job Description:

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for an energetic, organized, experienced Supplier Quality Appearance Approval Specialist to join our growing team. The Supplier Quality Appearance Approval Specialist will own and administer our Appearance Approval process (AAR), working directly with exterior and interior suppliers to evaluate, approve, and document appearance attributes in alignment with our color, grain, gloss, and material standards. This role is the primary interface between Styling, Engineering, and the supply base on all appearance-related quality matters.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

In this position, the candidate will be responsible for leading the Appearance Approval Record (AAR) process for exterior, interior, and trim suppliers, conducting physical appearance evaluations against approved masters and our appearance standards, and documenting approvals within the PPAP package. The Specialist will manage appearance master retention and traceability, coordinate appearance sign-off events with Styling and Program teams, issue supplier disposition for appearance deviations, and drive corrective action where appearance attributes fall outside of acceptance criteria. This role also supports supplier development in color matching, surface quality, grain replication, and material appearance consistency across the supply base.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • Engineering Degree or equiv. or previous working level experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality or Color & Trim with direct involvement in appearance approval processes (AAR), color/grain/gloss evaluation, and PPAP documentation for interior or exterior components.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Hands-on experience with appearance-sensitive components including injection-molded plastics, soft trim, painted surfaces, chrome/bright work, seals, and textiles.
  • Ability to identify appearance non-conformances, communicate disposition clearly to suppliers, and drive timely corrective action to protect program timing and customer experience.
  • Familiarity with color measurement tools (spectrophotometer), gloss meters, and visual assessment methods under standardized lighting conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and material/appearance specifications; experience with AIAG AAR requirements and their integration into the PPAP process.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • High level of integrity
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.
