Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Control-M Administrator/Engineer with strong Linux administration experience. This role focuses on managing, building, upgrading, patching, troubleshooting, and supporting Control-M environments across Production, SimProd/Test, and Sandbox.

This is a Control-M Administration/Engineering role — NOT a Control-M Scheduler role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Control-M Production, SimProd/Test, and Sandbox environments.
  • Support approximately 80 MVS LPARS, 40 Control-M Servers, and 200 Control-M Agents.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Control-M environments from the ground up.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain BMC Control-M software and add-ons.
  • Support Control-M 20; experience with Control-M 21/22 is highly preferred.
  • Build and maintain Control-M Linux servers, agents, and related infrastructure.
  • Provide strong Linux administration and troubleshooting for Control-M environments.
  • Support Windows-based Control-M environments as needed.
  • Create/update connection profiles, Web Services, MFT jobs, WSDL/SOAP configurations, and related integrations.
  • Troubleshoot Control-M server, agent, network, connectivity, and application issues.
  • Maintain SSL certificates for Control-M servers and agents.
  • Manage Control-M alerts/shouts and integration with monitoring/ServiceNow environments.
  • Maintain Control-M documentation, knowledge items, technical guides, and recovery plans.
  • Manage Control-M server access, availability, configuration, and ownership information.
  • Participate in Control-M projects, stakeholder meetings, testing, and maintenance activities.
  • Act as a technical liaison for business partners and application/job owners.
  • Independently manage day-to-day Control-M administration and provide strategic technical direction.

Required Skills

  • Hands-on Control-M Administration/Engineering
  • Control-M 20+; Control-M 21/22 preferred
  • Linux Administration – strong hands-on experience
  • Control-M installation, configuration, upgrades & patching
  • MFT / Managed File Transfer
  • Control-M Servers, Agents, workflows, alerts, and troubleshooting
  • Windows Administration
  • Ability to build Control-M environments from the ground up
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with ability to independently manage the environment

Good to Have

  • Puppet experience
  • Control-M testing/validation experience
  • Mainframe/MVS experience
  • Web Services, WSDL/SOAP
  • ServiceNow/enterprise monitoring integration
  • Enterprise scheduling environment experience

Important Client Requirements

  • Client is specifically seeking a Control-M Admin/Engineer, not a Scheduler.
  • Candidate should ideally have under 5 years of Control-M experience or be currently working hands-on with Control-M.
  • MFT, upgrades, patching, and Linux administration are important requirements.
  • Puppet is preferred but not required.
  • Mainframe experience is a plus, not mandatory.
  • Scheduler build/change activities are handled by a separate team.
